Celebrating Success at Mortgage Express

Topics: Mortgage Broker, Health and Wellbeing 0

Depending on who you ask, success can mean a lot of different things. Reaching a sales target. Buying a first home. Travelling first class. Running your own business. For Kelly Podlich, Mortgage Express broker, success is completing a massive 360 km bike ride to raise money for two children’s charities, and being nominated in the annual MFAA Excellence Awards, as a finalist for the Community Champion Award.

Cycling for a worthy cause

In November 2021, Kelly and her fellow team mates from within the Harcourts family raised $56.5k for children’s charities Traction and the White Ribbon Schools program.Over 3-days, Kelly’s team completed a 360km bike ride, riding from Brisbane to Caloundra return and around the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Having set a goal to complete the bike ride and raise at least $3k herself, Kelly spent months training while overcoming serious self-doubt in her ability.

“I hadn’t ridden a bike for 20 years and this was an enormous task for me both physically and mentally. I went from my current physical activity of an hour a week personal training to up to 8 hours a week on the bike, with 4am wake-ups for training!”

“People were shocked when I told them what I was doing and were concerned about me signing up for such a big physical challenge. But that just made me more determined to show up to all the training sessions and complete the ride. I got so much out of it – not just the physical benefits and sense of achievement. But also knowing I’ve made a contribution to the needs of others.”

MFAA Excellence Awards

Each year, the MFAA Excellence Awards celebrate the work of the industry’s best brokers, businesses and industry professionals, recognising the commitment members have shown to ensuring the mortgage and finance industry maintains a high standard.

Open to all MFAA members, the awards are an opportunity to recognize those in the industry who continue to demonstrate exceptional customer service, professionalism, ethics, growth and innovation.

Kelly is a finalist for the Community Champion award, an award that considers the delivery of social, ethical or community service initiatives and programs. The MFAA Excellence Awards ceremony takes place in mid-May 2022, so keep a lookout for the winners!

“We are each responsible for helping make a difference in the world, no matter what role we play. The ripple effect is enormous and the money we raised for our chosen charities is just the beginning,” says Kelly.

Mortgage Express is proud of the amazing and inspirational role that Kelly played in helping two important causes continue the exceptional work they do.
